This is one of the Virginia Sweet Spires - a plant we were not familiar with when it showed up on the designer's plan.

That was in the back yard - here's a view of the path to the front door. Our annuals have not done much in the three weeks since we planted them.

This is the Beauty Berry that accents the intersection of the path and the driveway. This is apparently as showy as the little flower gets - it is rather pretty from up close, but back away and you don't really see it.

And last is a little wildflower growing near the stone steps - it's quite small but in its setting more impressive than our "wildflower meadow" which is finally starting to look a little more colorful - but nothing like our neighbors' meadow yet.

Some of the other blooming shrubs are starting to show promise - it really is fun, since although I'd looked up these plants when we first heard of them, you can't get a real sense of how they look in bloom in the landscape from the photographs.
