Keys and Apples

This weekend is the Apple Festival in Hendersonville that we also attended last year. This year, we went in the afternoon in order to enjoy the performance of the Mountain Thunder Cloggers. This is the group Cheryl takes weekly classes with.


They performed for about half an hour to a variety of music from Irish folk to bluegrass to country to hip-hop. The group plans to replace their costumes this year. They do "precision" clogging - as opposed to "traditional" clogging but their outfits are more traditional because at most of the events where they appear, the audience is looking for the "traditional" clogging.

Unfortunately, with their performace at 4:00, which much be Festival Prime Time, the streets were extremely crowded. It was harder to enjoy the festival as much as last year, when we showed up earlier in the day. But we did enjoy apple turnovers and apple ice cream (separately) and came home with apple bread as well as fresh apples.

This morning we finally got this key shelf hung. It was made by a local craftsman. We bought it at the Vance Birthplace Second Saturday event in June, so it has stood by waiting for us to decide on the right hanging mechanism. Two dark colored robe hooks are doing the job.



The shelf is curly maple and it came with the antique keys. Cheryl is making a doll called Secret Keeper to sit on the shelf next to the ceramic leaf dish that holds the practical keys.
