One of Norris's firefighter friends at Reems Creek was working yesterday and got called to a woods fire. After the fire had been surrounded by fire lines cut into the soil, she was able to get some interesting pictures. Although the fire started in the late afternoon, these pictures were all taken after dark when the decreasing temperatures and increasing humidity help slow the fire down. Norris didn't have to respond to this call, which is a good thing because he doesn't enjoy woods fires very much.

The fire sure makes for some beautiful pictures. Too bad it is so dangerous and destructive!
Its good for woodlands to have a controlled burn from time. It hastens the process of returning nutrients to the soil and keeps the fuel supply at the forest floor from building up to even more dangerous levels.
