Enough Rain Already

Usually we complain that we don't get enough rain in the summer, but that hasn't been the case this year.  So far in the first 6 days of July we have had over six inches of rain and more to come tonight and tomorrow.  Today when we went to Lake Louise in Weaverville for our morning walk, we decided to take a short detour and see how much water was going over the waterfall at the normally calm site where one of the old water-powered mills on Reems Creek used to operate.  We expected to see a lot of roaring water and we weren't disappointed.

For contrast, here is a photo Cheryl took of the area in February, and we'd had a lot of rain this winter as well -

 While Norris was taking pictures and video on his cell phone, Cheryl noticed a long legged bird of some type, possibly a Little Blue Heron.  It's definitely not the usual Great Blue Heron we see around the lake occassionally.  Here are two pictures we got while it was walking.  It's bright yellow legs tell us it's not a Great Blue Heron.
