Getting to know Lily

Every day we enjoy playing with Lily, but she is not an easy subject to photograph -

Unless you happen to get lucky and catch her when she's just woken up,

she doesn't sit still for being held.

Notice the cardboard boxes that will be blocking the openings in the staircase. We've watched Lily walk right off the edge of the bed or a chair or table when looking at something on the next chair or the window sill or her own condo, missing the fact that she's stepping out into the air and taking a tumble. The boxes will probably have to be there for the next 6 months.

She seems to appreciate the cat tree Norris built when Moki and Lu were young -

But it can be very tricky to get a photograph of her playing on it because she moves so quickly.

Norris spent a little time this morning repairing the tree parts that had been loosened. We moved Lily from the smaller bedroom to Cheryl's studio where she will have more room to run around. She loves sliding on the smooth flooring there. She has explored our whole house while Moki and Lu were locked in the screened porch.

This next photo shows as close as she has come to Moki and Lu : paws under the door. Though they are very curious, they are not at all sure they want to play yet. They did go nose to nose with her through the window to the screened porch. This is normal adult cat/kitten behavior. They may take a few more days or another week to accept her.

Every now and again, if you just keep taking pictures you get really lucky.

She is such a cute little subject, we'll have to keep trying!

I love the photos. Lily seems to be sideways in one of the photos of her on the cat tree so indeed she must have been having a high energy game.
